Tompolo Blasts Oil Theft Networks: ‘We’re Clashing With Powerful Figures In Abuja, Lagos

Tompolo, Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, has expressed frustration over the challenges faced while tackling oil theft, including a recent confrontation between his team and the Nigerian Navy in Port Harcourt. Tompolo’s security company was hired by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to secure pipelines.

Speaking during a visit by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) leadership, led by President Mazi Afam Osigwe, to the Gbaramatu Kingdom in Delta State, Tompolo revealed the difficulties his team faces. He accused certain Nigerian Navy officers of colluding with oil thieves and even firing on Tantita’s operatives during a recent operation, which also involved officers from the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Tompolo stated that his actions have angered powerful individuals benefiting from the illegal trade, urging support for President Bola Tinubu’s economic recovery efforts. He warned of severe consequences if oil theft continues, emphasizing the national impact of the issue, particularly on Nigeria’s economy and the government’s capacity to deliver public services.

He appealed for support from Nigerians and security agencies, underscoring the urgency of curbing oil theft to prevent further economic damage.

The NBA’s President, Afam Osigwe, acknowledged the severity of the issue and reaffirmed the association’s commitment to addressing oil theft and its harmful effects on the country’s economy
