NES Set To Examine, Proffer scientific, practical solutions to global, national, subnational and local environmental challenges

The Nigerian Environmental Society (NES), is set to examine and proffer solutions to environmental challenges at its concluded plans to hold its 2024 Annual National Conference on global environmental challenges.
During the annual conference, NES will  draw up action plan to mitigate and evolve moves towards ensuring sustainable environment and economic growth for Nigeria.

The Conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM), which is the 33rd will hold in Lagos.

The National President of NES, Dr Efegbidiki Okobia, said the 2024 conference and AGM will discuss, proffer scientific and practical solutions to global, national, subnational and local environmental challenges.

Okobia told journalists in Abuja at a media briefing on the conference with the theme; “Environmental Resource Management, Conservation and Protection in the Global emerging innovative technology for sustainable development” aims at examining realities, alignments, and contradictions in the global action to limit environmental degradation and its implications for sustainable development in the global South.

He said that apart from the main theme of conference, there are other sub-themes that will be discussed to examine significant issues at the Technical Sessions with cut-crossing environmental sustainability challenges.

The AGM will have the former Vice Chancellor, Lagos State University, Prof. Olarewaju Adigun Fagbohun, as the keynote Speaker while the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu will be the Chief host while the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, and the Honourable Minister of Environment Balarabe Lawal Abbas will be special guests.

Others are Eleko of Eko, Rilwan Akiolu, EU Nigeria Representative, Louis Jacques Blondiau, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, Governor Mohammed Umar Bago of Niger State, Delta State and Borno governors among others.

NES said it is committed to advocacy and actions towards environmental protection, sustainable development, and the promotion of environmental professionalism within Nigeria and in the global arena.
