LG Funds: CRP cautions Fubara against using militants to destabilise Niger Delta

The Concerned Rivers People ( CRP), a grassroot movement has cautioned Governor Siminalayi Fubara against the purported plans by his administration to mobilise armed militants to bomb oil installations in the event that the courts order the suspension of federal allocations meant for the twenty three (23) Local Government Councils of Rivers State.

Convener of the CRP, Comrade Emmanuel Chibuzor who gave the warning on Sunday night, said his group had obtained credible information about Fubara’s plot to cause mayhem if the courts ruled against his wish, but reminded him that Rivers State and indeed Nigeria is governed by laws and no one is above the laws of the land.

Chibuzor charged Fubara to abide by the rule of law by obeying the orders of the courts as any attempt by anyone, no matter how highly placed, to take the laws into his hands will lead to anarchy. He described the plot by the faceless militant group to bomb strategic oil facilities and cripple the national economy as counter productive and urged Fubara to call “his boys” to order and stop tarnishing the image of the Niger Delta.

“Governance is by rule of law. Why are they afraid. They got orders from state High courts and heaven didn’t fall.
“Any attempt by any group to touch any oil installation will be an invitation to catastrophe. Let Fubara be warned.
He should stop tarnishing the image of Ijaw nation that extends beyond Rivers state,” Chibuzor said.

It would be recalled that a nascent Niger Delta militant group, Niger Delta Development Force, had over the weekend, threatened to bomb and shut down oil installations in Niger Delta should any court grant an order stopping federal allocations to the 23 Local Governments in Rivers State.

Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court, Abuja, is set to rule on Monday ( today) to stop allocations to LG in Rivers State.

Justin Alabraba, spokesman of the Niger Delta Development Force said any judgement from any court in Abuja on Monday that denies Local Governments in Rivers State, will be met with heavy destructions of oil installations in the region. “Let them try it on Monday and see. We will shut down major oil pipeline and it would be the beginning of the worst to come,” Alabraba said.
