ISWAP Militants Storm Geidam, Set Graves On Fire and Leave Trail Of Destruction
In the early hours of Saturday, militants from the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) launched a deadly attack on Geidam town in Yobe State, leaving one person dead and causing significant destruction, according to multiple sources.
The attack started around 3:30 a.m., when the insurgents stormed the town, firing explosives and terrorizing residents.
Intelligence sources told counterinsurgency expert Zagazola Makama that the attackers destroyed properties and set two Nigerian Customs vehicles on fire.
In a shocking act of violence, the militants desecrated the grave of Khalifah Ayiloma in Kolori Ward, setting the gravesite ablaze.
They also attacked the home of a 60-year-old night watchman, Dahiru Muhammadu, who was stationed near Geidam Polytechnic. Muhammadu was shot in the neck and rushed to Geidam Specialist Hospital, where he later died.
